New Facility Enhances RLS Logistics' Service Offerings

June 16, 2006

RLS Logistics announces the recent opening of a new 50,000 sq. ft. facility at its Malaga, NJ campus. The building is the latest addition to this growing temperature-controlled transportation, warehousing, distribution and packaging company. "The new building was specifically designed to accommodate a number of new service offerings for our customers," says Anthony M Leo, President of Warehousing. "These include a USDA import inspection service, as well as tempering and blast freezing services. In addition, the new facility will bring our storage capacity to over 250,000 sq. ft."

Imported food products are sampled and inspected in the building's state-of-the-art USDA inspection room by a USDA inspector assigned to the company. "This allows us to store and distribute imported food products and enables us to expand our service portfolio for our customers, many of whom buy product from overseas," explains Leo. RLS Logistics also provides temperature-controlled drayage of imported food products to and from ports in the Northeast including Wilmington, Philadelphia and North Jersey. "With this new facility, we are fully equipped to dray and warehouse imported shipments," adds Leo.

The new facility also features two tempering rooms, each with a 500 pallet capacity. Here, frozen product is thawed in a time/temperature-controlled environment that is continually monitored and documented. The product's traceability is maintained throughout the tempering/thawing process.

RLS Logistics' new 50,000 sq. ft. facility houses their new USDA import inspection service as well as their tempering and blast freezing operation. Imported food products are sampled and inspected in this room by a USDA inspector assigned to the company.

The new facility also houses a state-of-the-art blast freezing area for fast freezing food products such as vegetables, poultry, and meat. "Our blast freezer takes product to a freezing temperature ensuring optimum safety and quality,"says Leo. "It can handle over 40,000 lbs. of product daily."
